Gado-gado

 Gado-gado is a popular Indonesian dish that typically consists of mixed vegetables and tofu or tempeh, served with a peanut sauce. Here is a recipe for Gado-Gado that you can try:


Ingredients:

- 1/2 head of cabbage, shredded

- 2 carrots, peeled and grated

- 1 cucumber, sliced

- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes

- 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes

- 1 cup of bean sprouts

- 1/2 cup of roasted peanuts, chopped

- 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions

- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil

- Salt and pepper to taste


For the peanut sauce:

- 1 cup of unsalted roasted peanuts

- 3 cloves of garlic, chopped

- 1-2 red chili peppers, chopped

- 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste

- 1 tablespoon of palm sugar

- 1/4 cup of water


Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, carrots, cucumber, and bean sprouts. Set aside.


2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the tofu and tempeh and cook until golden brown on all sides. Season with salt and pepper to taste.


3. To make the peanut sauce, combine the peanuts, garlic, chili peppers, tamarind paste, palm sugar, and water in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.


4. To serve, arrange the vegetables, tofu, and tempeh on a large platter. Drizzle the peanut sauce over the top and sprinkle with chopped peanuts and crispy fried onions.
