Biryani

  


 Biryani is a classic Indian dish that's known for its aromatic spices and flavorful rice. Here's a recipe that you can try:


Ingredients:

- 1 pound of chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces

- 2 cups of basmati rice

- 1 onion, chopped

- 2 garlic cloves, minced

- 1 teaspoon of ginger, grated

- 2 tomatoes, chopped

- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

- 3 bay leaves

- 4 cardamom pods

- 4 cloves

- 1 cinnamon stick

- 1 teaspoon of salt

- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander

- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin

- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric

- 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala

- 3 cups of water

- Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish


Instructions:


1. Rinse the rice in cold water and soak it in water for 30 minutes.


2. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat.


3. Add the cumin seeds, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Stir for 30 seconds.


4. Add the chopped onion and stir until it turns golden brown.


5. Add the garlic, ginger, and chopped tomatoes. Stir for 2-3 minutes.


6. Add the chicken pieces, salt, ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric, and garam masala. Stir until the chicken is cooked through.


7. Drain the rice and add it to the pot. Stir until the rice is coated with the mixture.


8. Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil.


9. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 20 minutes.


10. Turn off the heat and let the biryani sit for 10 minutes.


11. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro.
